More Caricature!

Here are a few more sketches I did this morning during a little bit of down time. Some are of family, some are just random photos I found. Its amazing how many different variations can come from the same photo.

caricature

Trying to get back into my caricaturing. It has been too long. I feel a piece of me being restored. This is so natural for me do and endless entertainment for myself. These are some church notes from yesterday as well as sketches from a commissioned piece I am working on presently.
I spent last weekend at the UCLA Book Fair in LA manning our booth and doing caricatures of the attendees all weekend long - 450+ caricatures in 2 days. I enjoyed the laughs and smiles they got from the kids. I think I had more fun doing them than they had receiving them. What fun! More to come soon!

Here are a few pieces that I have been working on for Flinders Press Publishing Company. It is a series of 4 chapter books about two young, imagnative boys who escape the confines of apartment life in L.A. by climbing into an old clothes "treasure" trunk and traveling to ancient times and civilizations. Their curiosity gets them into a pinch and they have to use their modern ingenuity to help them escape.
I not only designed the covers, but also the 15-17 illustrations in each book. Look for the "Traveling Trunk Adventures" series on sale at Amazon.com NOW! Visit the following site for details on how to order.

The Wee Wee Eel

This is a poster project I worked on for a client who was part of the team who ran this car, named the "Wee Wee Eel" which has set land speed records in one category or another. They are planning a reunion for this summer and wanted a commemorative poster for the occasion. The artwork was created in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.

Supermarket Eco Friendly Bags

Here are a few "green" or eco-friendly bags I was commissioned to do for a large supermarket chain in California. For one of them they were looking for a California beach themed bag in that it have only things that you can find in that state. I had a lot of fun on this one especially as I got to research and paint the coast and the animals you might find off the coast of my home town in Ventura, California: Garabaldi fish, Gray whales, sea turtles, urchins, Anacapa Island with its recognizable arch and lighthouse. All were done in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

Water color Illustration

Here is an illustration I did for a childrens book I am illustrating at the present. This style was turned down for more of a digital illustration style, but I liked this one enough to post.
